In addition to our regular developmental curriculum, we offer:
Weekly Music: The children listen to musical pieces, sing,
use scarves, drums, rhythm sticks, bells and a giant piano to
explore music. We host a Family Music Night in February
each year. The kids also sing at our End of Year Celebration
and the 4 year olds sing at Christmas for a senior-citizen
group at the church.
Weekly Chapel: The children learn through stories, singing,
games and rhymes. We inform parent’s of the chapel lesson
each week by posting the bible verse and an activity to do at
home with the kids. The lessons are all interactive and we
even do a CROP walk where the kids brought canned foods
Creature Teacher brings a new animal once a month! From
Tarantulas to Flying Squirrels, the Creature Teacher never
disappoints. The kids learn about the animals habitat, diet
and behaviors. They even get to pet the animal, get a stamp
and bring home a color page with facts about their new
Throughout the year, we also have special presentations
during the school day, like Rodney “One Feather”, a Native
American at Thanksgiving, a Dentist for Dental Hygiene
Month and an Irish Dancer around St. Patrick’s Day.
Parents are invited to help plan and attend class parties.
Sign ups will happen at the beginning of the school year.
We also have a variety of activities during our “Week of the
Young Child” in the Spring. In year’s past we have had yoga
for kids, a puppet show on bike safety, and fire fighters.
We also have family time together. A Teddy Bear Picnic with
Story Time and Popsicles on the Playground during the
summer months for friends to get together. We also host Family Music
Night, Ice Cream Social and Silent Auction with Big Bang
Boom and our Family Picnic on the last day of school.
We also sponsor a Parents’ Night Out in early
December. It is Christmas themed with the kiddos in their jammies
for a variety of Christmas Activities, while the parents are
getting some errands done or just having fun themselves.
We enjoy seeing parents, sibling and maybe some SFYC alumni at these community events!
