Our new curriculum with an unusual name has a Lutheran foundation. Akaloo is lifelong faith formation for the whole congregation: children, youth and adults. Akaloo is intentional
discipleship that's open to God's surprises. Akaloo is following Jesus as the body of Christ. The name Akaloo is inspired by the Greek word akolouthein: "to follow." Jesus said to his
disciples, "Follow me." Akaloo is based on this simple, radical call to discipleship. Akaloo supports the 4 keys by....
- integrating all aspects of your faith formation ministry
- supporting lifelong discipleship for all ages
- fostering intergenerational learning and sharing
- reinforcing discipleship by bridging church and home
- providing online resources and media for faith development
Each group, ages 3, 4, K, grade 1, grade 2-3, grade 4-5, grade 6-7 and grade 8-9, has their own kid-friendly illustrated Learner Handbook that re-enforces the curriculum throughout the year.
We encourage each participant to purchase this book for their home library. Each book costs $10 (make checks payable to First Lutheran, memo line: Handbook) and may be purchased during the
Sunday Education Class. A few extra copies will be kept in each classroom for Sunday morning use.
Special note to Grades 2-9: The label on your books may be different than your grade level. We have started this curriculum with grades group already formed. So all books are one grade level
above our current groups. Example - Our grade 2-3 group will be using the grade 3-4 book.
