First Lutheran Church's Mission Statement: The Mission of
First Lutheran Church is to be ALIVE in Christ: Inviting people to follow Jesus Christ and transform the world with God's love in action. First Lutheran Church's Vision Statement: Our 5 step Vision: Grace – Being empowered for ministry through worship
Groups – Experiencing small groups as a way of life at First Lutheran
Gifts
– Discerning/Identifying our God-given gifts for ministry
Grow – Through prayer, study and faith sharing we become more like Christ
Go!
– Embodying love in action as we build up the body of Christ and serve those in need in the community. Goals:
1. To grow and strengthen First Lutheran's response to Jesus Christ's Great
Commandment and Great Commission by developing measurable results and devoting staff and resources to build-up whole-life commitment to be Alive In Christ in the church and in
the community. To identify spiritual gifts, to create small groups of study, fellowship and service, and to grow disciples, so that a sense of community among members will become
focused on a relationship with God, expressed through mission and ministry. 2. Each member of FLC should be invited and encouraged to participate in the core courses
of the Foundation of Faith. These core courses define our understanding of discipleship, Lutheran beliefs, scripture and God's call to serve by sharing our gifts. As such, they
define our identity as a community of faith. Spiritual growth is a collaborative effort between the Holy Spirit and us, both individually and communally.
3. An organizational structure that builds-up the body of Christ, with our Lord Jesus as the head, utilizing the gifts and talents of paid staff, volunteers and all who attend FLC to
full-fill God's purpose for First Lutheran Church. A structure that conducts all business in an atmosphere of worship and service to God, which develops disciples, and provides a
place for people to grow spiritually through education, giving, serving others and being served. A structure that provides clarity for opportunity, accountability and communications.
