I was born and raised in Kings Mountain, NC at Resurrection Lutheran Church. I attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication Studies. I currently live in High Point with my family.
I have lived and attended Lutheran churches in Mount Holly, Matthews, Chapel Hill, and Sanford until I moved to High Point in July 2011. I most recently have been a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where Jennifer Krushas is pastor.

I have two children. Charlie is 15, in the 10th grade, and has his learner’s permit. He attends Piedmont Classical High School, a charter school in Guilford County. He is interested in working with animals. He loves taking Latin, is the boy’s basketball manager in the winter and hopes to be on the baseball team in the spring. Caroline is 12 and is in the 8th grade at Allen Jay Preparatory School in High Point. It is a leadership magnet school within Guilford County Schools. She plays the trumpet and is a star student. She is captain of the cheerleading squad.

My husband, Sam, is a science teacher at High Point Central High School. He has also taught at UNC-G in the chemistry department and at the American Hebrew Academy. This year he is in charge of teaching all the AP/IB chemistry courses at HP Central. He has a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and is currently working on his Doctorate of Education and Curriculum through Gardner-Webb University. We have three dogs and two cats.

I am currently in my last year at Wake Forest School of Divinity. I am also taking coursework related to my Lutheran year through Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN. I have studied the Old/New Testament, Faith Development, Women/Slaves in Early Christianity, Hebrew, Church History, and Spirituality. I am writing my master’s thesis on Rediscovering Mary, the mother of Jesus.

As a side note of importance to this particular congregation, when I was a senior in high school, I received the Linda Kaelke award, a top award for Lutheran Youth in North Carolina.

Thank you so much for having me on board again this year at First Lutheran Church. I am looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things God is going to accomplish through us.
