I grew up in and around Baltimore, MD, and received my B.S. degree in Business Administration from UNCG in 1984. I began serving First Lutheran in January, 1997, after 7 years with Ebenezer Lutheran in Columbia, SC, where I earned my M. Div. degree at Lutheran Seminary in 1989. One of my favorite Bible stories is Mark 9:14-29, in which the father of a boy who needs healing says to Jesus, "I believe; Help my unbelief!" A favorite quote from Martin Luther (one which we all struggle with) is, "The church exists in a constant state of reform."
My wife, Cindy, is a teacher, and our daughter, Katie Bess, is a Freshman and UNC-Asheville. For leisure and recreation I enjoy music, movies, cooking, tennis and basketball.
